Long Time
How long is too long between blogs, is seven years a long time or is it too short. Every once in a while I remember this blog that I started in 2006 and think that I might post something, not sure why it's not as if I lead the worlds most interesting life.
I'm no international man of mystery, not an actor who has some deep desire to be the center of the world, I'm just another human with a life that is less than perfect. Seven years has brought a world of changes to my corner of the world, some good, some bad, and some meh. In the time since my last post I went back to school got a degree in computers (but no job) and ended up going back to work in the one job that would hire me.
I sent out hundreds (348) of resumes and got eight replies seven of which were the dreaded "We are going in a different direction", which is just code for your too old or you'll cost too much money. Just once I would love to get a reply back from a recruiter who states "We looked at your resume and decided that you are way too old to work for us, and besides with your experience we would have to pay you a boatload of money. Plus we feel like we would be threatened by you because you have so much experience".
The job that I have now drives me crazy, but since there are so few jobs out there I stay, even though I am back working nights and weekends. Not sure how much longer I can stand having to drag myself out of bed and back in to work. The less I say about the place I work the better, it's not the ideal place for someone who doesn't suffer fools gladly.
Hopefully I can get out of here before I'm older than dirt and get a new job. It's late and I can't really type what I want to say (unwanted eyes may be reading). So until the day when I am free and clear of this place I will sign off and hope that someone somewhere needs a dusty old fart to work for them.
