Out In Cali

Well our daughter is out in California for the summer. It was her mother's idea, not mine. We have to let them grow, and we have to let them move on in their lives. I don't think it should all be in the same summer though. They all grow up but sometimes it's to fast, we want them to always stay eight years old so they never have to suffer any heartbreak. It's hard to let your children go, it's not the easiest time in a parents life. Daughters are harder to let grow up than boys, I know that sounds sexist but ask any father what the most traumatic time in their life was and they will all tell you the same thing. With a boy you tell them "Son be kind and loving and never hurt the one you love" with a daughter it's hard to sit them down and tell them, in the course of their lives they are going to meet people who will treat them unkind, or hurt them physically or mentally. Daughters  are easily blinded, never meeting the true person until it's way to late. So to my little girl I say, Keep your eyes open and if he looks like he's glowing put on some polarized sunglasses and look for the real person buried under the glitter.
